A plethora of emerging opportunities in space

Contrary to expectations, it’s not space centres like NASA, but businessmen like PayPal founder Elon Musk, Budget Suits Hotel founder Robert Bigelow, Microsoft Co-founder Paul Allen and the fl amboyant billionaire Richard Branson, who are working towards the development of Space Tourism. While Elon Musk founded the company SpaceX for carrying people into space, Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is the world’s first private spaceline for non-professional astronauts. Virgin Galactic has also entered into an agreement with NASA to collaborate in future manned space technology. Under the agreement, Virgin will have complete access to NASA’s Ames’ facilities and capabilities, supporting Virgin Galactic’s twin objectives of safety and commercial viability and further stamping its leadership in the field. Virgin has also entered into a contract with Mojave Aerospace Ventures as Richard Branson explains, “This deal with Mojave Aerospace Ventures is just the start of what we believe will be a new era in the history of mankind, one day making the affordable exploration of space by human beings a real possibility.”
